A great place to live, Muswellbrook is the Principal Township of the Upper Hunter. With a popluation of just over 12,000. The town is located 3 hours from Sydney and a little over 1 hours drive from Newcatle. Well situated, and within a rich and diverse region of New South Wales. The township was firstly settled in 1820's and gazetted a town in 1833. Prior the region was the home of the Wonnarua & Kamilaroi peoples and shares in a rich anccestral history. Primarly a rural settliment until the advent of the Power Industry in the 1970's and now hosting the States largest generators in Lidell and Bayswater Power Stations. The Coal Industry has a long history in the region with mining dating back to the 1860's. The diversity of Industry follows with viticulture, Dairying, Beef, Horse and Equine , with the Shire boasting numerous Horse Studs, Winerys and a rich tapistry of all things rural.
